Printer Sharing for Mac
Makes any printer your Mac can already print to — including printers with no network capability of their own, connected over USB — visible and usable from every iPhone, iPad, other Mac, Windows PC and Android device on your network. No app to install anywhere else.
Working title. This product's public name is still being finalized — see below.
What it does
- Shares any installed printer, however it's connected, with no per-printer or per-machine setup.
- Uses the same discovery protocol iPhones and iPads already use to find network printers, so nothing new has to be installed on the devices printing to it.
- Save to Mac. Point a "printer" at a folder instead of paper — jobs land as a PDF, optionally opened in an app or handed to a Shortcut.
- Per-device access control and job history.
- Runs entirely on your Mac. No cloud account, no analytics, nothing to sign in to.
Why the name is still open
Apple's guidelines don't allow a third-party product to use an Apple trademark as part of its name — the same reason existing tools in this space are named the way they are. We'd rather pick the right name once than ship the wrong one, so this page will update before release.
Not shipped yet. If you have a printer that's never worked properly over the network — a
USB-only model, or one from a brand with weak driver support — we'd like to hear about it:
